Statement balance意思

"Statement balance" is a term used in the context of financial statements, particularly in relation to credit card statements. It refers to the total amount of money owed on a credit card as of the statement date, which is typically the date when the credit card company generates the monthly statement.

The statement balance includes all purchases, payments, fees, and interest that have accumulated since the last statement date up to the current statement date. It is the amount that the credit cardholder owes to the credit card company as of that date.

When you receive your credit card statement in the mail or online, it will typically show your opening balance (the balance from the previous statement), any new purchases, payments, cash advances, fees, and interest charges, and it will calculate the closing balance, which is also known as the statement balance.

It's important to note that the statement balance is not the same as the current balance, which is the amount you owe as of the day you check your account. The current balance includes any transactions that have posted to your account since the statement date but have not yet been reflected on the statement.

If you pay your credit card bill in full by the due date, you will typically only be paying off the statement balance. However, if you carry a balance, you will be charged interest on the balance from the statement date until the payment is received by the credit card company.
