"Halal" is an Arabic term that means "permissible" or "lawful" in English. In the context of food, halal refers to food that is permissible for Muslims to consume according to Islamic dietary laws. Halal food is food that is:

  5. Free from any ingredients or additives that are considered haram (forbidden) in Islam, such as alcohol, certain types of fats, and any food that is contaminated with haram substances.

In addition to these guidelines, halal food also requires that all processing and packaging of the food meet certain standards to ensure that the food remains pure and uncontaminated. This includes the use of halal-certified ingredients and the avoidance of cross-contamination with non-halal foods.
