Decent work意思

"Decent work" is a term used by the International Labour Organization (ILO) to describe work that meets certain basic standards and criteria. The concept of decent work is based on the idea that all workers have the right to work in conditions that respect their dignity, rights, and well-being.

The ILO defines decent work as follows:

"Decent work involves opportunities for work that is productive and delivers a fair income, security in the workplace and social protection for families, better prospects for personal development and social integration, freedom for people to express their concerns, organize and participate in the decisions that affect their lives and equality of opportunity and treatment for all women and men."

In other words, decent work includes:

  1. Job Security: Workers should have stable and predictable employment conditions.
  2. Fair Remuneration: Workers should receive wages and benefits that allow them to live with dignity and provide for their families.
  3. Safe and Healthy Working Conditions: Workplaces should be free from hazards and risks to the health and safety of employees.
  4. Freedom of Association and Collective Bargaining: Workers should have the right to join unions, negotiate with employers, and improve their working conditions.
  5. Equality and Non-Discrimination: All workers should be treated equally and fairly, without discrimination based on gender, race, religion, age, or other factors.
  6. Social Protection: Workers and their families should have access to social protection, including healthcare, unemployment insurance, and retirement benefits.

The concept of decent work is closely related to the ILO's mission to promote social justice and internationally recognized human and labor rights. The ILO's Decent Work Agenda aims to achieve these goals by working with governments, employers, and workers to create policies and programs that support decent work for all.
