Buy put是什麼意思

"Buy put" is a term used in the context of options trading. In options trading, there are two basic types of options: calls and puts. A "put" option gives the holder the right, but not the obligation, to sell a certain underlying asset at a specified price (the strike price) on or before a certain date (the expiration date).

When you "buy" a put option, you are purchasing the right to sell the underlying asset at the strike price. This means that if you think the price of the underlying asset is going to decrease, you can buy a put option, wait for the price to go down, and then exercise the option to sell the asset at the higher strike price, thus making a profit.

For example, if you believe that the price of a stock is going to decrease, you could buy a put option on that stock with a strike price that is higher than the current market price. If the stock price does indeed decrease, you can exercise the option and sell the stock at the higher strike price, pocketing the difference as profit. If the stock price increases, you can let the option expire worthless, but you would have lost the premium you paid to buy the option.
