Asphyxiation的意思

Asphyxiation is the condition of being deprived of oxygen supply to the body that is necessary for normal physiological functions, leading to unconsciousness or death. It can occur due to various causes, such as suffocation, strangulation, drowning, or exposure to toxic gases that prevent the absorption of oxygen by the blood. Asphyxiation can be classified into two main types:

  1. Mechanical asphyxia: This type of asphyxiation is caused by external factors that physically block the airways or prevent normal breathing, such as strangulation, smothering, or chest compression.

  2. Chemical asphyxia: In this type, the body's ability to use oxygen is impaired due to exposure to toxic substances or lack of oxygen in the air, as in the case of smoke inhalation or the presence of carbon monoxide.

Asphyxiation is a serious medical emergency that requires immediate intervention to restore oxygen to the body. Treatment typically involves removing the individual from the source of asphyxiation and providing oxygen, sometimes through advanced life support measures such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) or the use of mechanical ventilation.
