Tap root意思

"Tap root" is a term used in botany to describe the primary root of a plant, especially a dicotyledonous plant, from which all other roots arise. It is a thick, main root that grows straight down into the soil, anchoring the plant and absorbing water and minerals. Unlike fibrous roots, which are thin and branched, tap roots are usually larger and less branched.

Some examples of plants with tap roots include carrots, radishes, and dandelions. In these plants, the tap root is often the edible part, although in some cases, it is the lateral roots that are eaten, such as in the case of carrots.

The term "tap root" can also be used metaphorically to refer to the source or origin of something, similar to the way a tap root is the source from which all other roots branch out.
