Shallow sleep意思

"Shallow sleep" is a term used to describe a stage of sleep where an individual is not deeply asleep and is more easily awakened. This stage is typically characterized by light sleep, where the sleeper may be in the process of moving into deeper sleep stages but can be easily disturbed and awakened by external stimuli such as noise or movement.

During shallow sleep, the brain waves are slower and less regular than when a person is awake, but not as slow as in deep sleep or the Rapid Eye Movement (REM) sleep stage. The body may also experience a decrease in muscle tone and a drop in heart rate and breathing rate.

Shallow sleep is a normal part of the sleep cycle, and most people will spend some time in this stage each night. However, if an individual spends too much time in shallow sleep or has difficulty moving into deeper stages of sleep, it can lead to feelings of unrested or insomnia. This can be a sign of an underlying sleep disorder or simply the result of stress, poor sleep hygiene, or other factors that disrupt sleep.
