Polling rate意思

Polling rate is a term commonly used in the context of computer mice and other input devices that communicate with computers. It refers to the frequency at which the device sends data to the computer, typically measured in hertz (Hz) or times per second.

When you move a mouse, it generates signals that are sent to the computer to update the cursor's position on the screen. The polling rate determines how often these signals are sent. A higher polling rate means the mouse is sending data to the computer more frequently, which can result in more responsive and accurate cursor movement but may also consume more system resources.

For example, a mouse with a 1000Hz polling rate is sending data to the computer 1000 times per second, while a mouse with a 500Hz polling rate is sending data half as often. Professional gamers often prefer higher polling rates for the most responsive gameplay, but for everyday use, a polling rate of 125Hz or 500Hz is usually sufficient.
