Peptide意思

"Peptide" is a term used in biology and biochemistry to describe a short chain of amino acids that are linked together by peptide bonds. Peptides are formed when amino acids are joined through a process called peptide bond formation, which involves the removal of a water molecule and the formation of a chemical bond between the carboxyl group of one amino acid and the amino group of another amino acid.

Peptides can be composed of a few to several dozen amino acids, and they are an important class of molecules in living organisms. They play a variety of roles in the body, including as enzymes, hormones, and signaling molecules. Some peptides are also used as drugs, such as insulin and some antibiotics.
