Millisievert意思

"Millisievert" (mSv) is a unit of measurement for ionizing radiation dose. It is used to measure the amount of radiation absorbed by tissues in the body. The sievert (Sv) is the SI unit of dose equivalent (also called the biological effective dose), which takes into account the type of radiation and the energy of the radiation. The millisievert is one thousandth of a sievert (1/1,000).

Ionizing radiation, such as that from X-rays, gamma rays, and certain radioactive materials, can have biological effects on living tissue, including the risk of causing cancer. The dose of radiation absorbed by the body is measured in units of gray (Gy), which is the SI unit of absorbed dose. However, the biological effects of different types of radiation can vary, so the sievert (and millisievert) are used to express the dose in a way that is more relevant to the potential health effects.

For example, a person might receive a radiation dose of 10 mSv from a CT scan. This dose is considered to be the equivalent of the natural background radiation received over a period of about three months.
