Lease time意思

"Lease time" is a term commonly used in the context of network protocols, particularly in reference to the Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP). In DHCP, lease time refers to the duration for which a DHCP client is authorized to use an IP address that it has been assigned by a DHCP server.

When a DHCP client first connects to a network, it sends a DHCP discover message to locate a DHCP server. The server then responds with an offer, which includes an IP address and other network configuration parameters such as the subnet mask, default gateway, and DNS server addresses. The client accepts this offer by sending a request, and the server confirms the assignment by sending a lease acknowledgment.

The lease time is the period during which the client is allowed to use the assigned IP address before it must renew its lease with the DHCP server. The length of the lease time can vary, but it is typically set to a few hours to a few weeks.

If a client fails to renew its lease before the lease time expires, the IP address may be reassigned to another client by the DHCP server. Clients typically renew their leases automatically before the lease time expires to avoid this situation.

In the context of renting or leasing real estate, "lease time" might refer to the duration of a lease agreement, which is the period for which a tenant has the right to occupy a property under the terms of a lease contract.
