Lazy eye意思

"Lazy eye" is a colloquial term that refers to a condition known as amblyopia. Amblyopia is a developmental problem that arises during early childhood when one eye does not receive enough visual stimulation for both eyes to work together properly. It is the most common cause of vision loss in children.

In amblyopia, the brain does not properly process the images from one eye, leading to reduced vision in that eye. This can happen because of a difference in refractive error (nearsightedness, farsightedness, or astigmatism) between the two eyes, strabismus (misalignment of the eyes), or a problem with the way the eye forms images.

If left untreated, amblyopia can lead to permanent vision loss in the affected eye. Treatment typically involves patching the stronger eye to force the weaker eye to work harder and improve vision, as well as vision therapy and sometimes the use of eyeglasses or contact lenses to correct any refractive errors. Early detection and treatment are crucial for the best outcomes.
