Kick your bucket意思

"Kick the bucket" is an English idiom that means to die. The origin of this phrase is not definitively known, but there are several theories about how it came to mean death. One theory suggests that it refers to the way a pig was slaughtered, by hanging it by its feet from a pole (known as a "bucket" in some dialects) and then slitting its throat. The pig would kick against the pole (the bucket) as it was being killed. Another theory is that it comes from the practice of hanging a bucket on a nail to hang oneself, or from the idea of a farm worker kicking over a bucket of water as they die.
