Ironically意思

"Ironically" is an adverb that is used to describe a situation where there is a sharp or amusing contrast between what is expected to happen and what actually happens. It suggests that the outcome is in some way opposite to or incongruous with the normal or expected outcome.

For example:

  1. The world-famous singer was ironically tone-deaf.
  2. The fire station was ironically destroyed by a fire.
  3. The vegetarian restaurant was ironically closed for a steak night.

In each of these examples, there is a contrast between what is expected (a singer who can sing well, a fire station that is safe from fire, a vegetarian restaurant that doesn't serve meat) and what actually happens.
