"Hot end" is a term commonly used in the context of 3D printing, specifically referring to the end of the 3D printer where the extruder and nozzle are located. This is the part of the printer that heats up the filament and extrudes it through the nozzle to deposit layers of material onto the build plate, creating the 3D object.

The hot end typically consists of an extruder motor, a heater block, a nozzle, and a heat sink. The filament is fed through the hot end, where it is melted and then pushed through the nozzle under the control of the extruder motor. The nozzle is heated to a high temperature, typically between 180°C and 240°C (356°F and 464°F), depending on the material being printed.

The hot end is a critical component of a 3D printer, as it must be able to maintain a consistent temperature for accurate and reliable printing. If the temperature is too low, the filament may not melt properly, leading to poor adhesion between layers and other printing issues. If the temperature is too high, the filament may burn or the nozzle may become clogged.
