Bronchoscopy醫學意思

Bronchoscopy is a medical procedure that involves the visual examination of the airways and lungs using a bronchoscope, which is a flexible tube with a light and camera at the end. The procedure is typically performed by a pulmonologist or a respiratory specialist to diagnose and manage various respiratory conditions.

During bronchoscopy, the bronchoscope is inserted through the mouth or nose and guided down the trachea (windpipe) into the lungs. This allows the doctor to directly view the airways, take samples for biopsy or culture, remove mucus or foreign objects, or perform therapeutic interventions such as stent placement or dilation of narrowed airways.

Bronchoscopy can be used to diagnose conditions such as lung cancer, infections, inflammatory diseases, and to evaluate unexplained cough or hemoptysis (coughing up blood). It is also a valuable tool for managing certain lung conditions by providing direct access for treatment.
