Bod5是什麼意思

"BOD5" is an acronym that stands for Biochemical Oxygen Demand at 20°C after 5 days. It is a measure of the amount of oxygen that microorganisms in water will consume over a five-day period at a temperature of 20°C (68°F). This measurement is used as an indicator of the relative oxygen-depletion impact of effluent from sewage treatment works, industrial waste, and certain agricultural discharges upon receiving waters.

BOD5 is an important parameter in assessing the health of aquatic ecosystems and is used to determine the organic strength of wastewater. High BOD5 levels can indicate that a body of water is under stress from excessive organic material, which can lead to oxygen depletion and potentially harm aquatic life. Conversely, low BOD5 levels indicate that the water has a lower organic content and is less likely to suffer from oxygen depletion.
