"Bench press" is a weightlifting exercise that primarily targets the chest muscles, but also involves the shoulders, triceps, and other supporting muscles. It is one of the fundamental exercises used in bodybuilding and strength training.

To perform a bench press, you lie on a bench with your feet flat on the ground and your back pressed against the bench. You hold the barbell with both hands slightly wider than shoulder-width apart and lift it off the rack. You then lower the bar to your chest and press it back up until your arms are fully extended.
