Bed load意思

"Bed load" is a term used in geomorphology and hydrology to describe the sediment that is being actively transported along the bed of a river, stream, or other flowing body of water. This sediment can include sand, gravel, pebbles, and larger particles that are moved along the riverbed by the flow of water.

Bed load transport is an important process in river dynamics, as it can significantly alter the shape and structure of river channels over time. The amount of bed load that can be transported depends on the velocity of the water, the size and shape of the sediment particles, and the gradient (slope) of the riverbed.

In contrast to bed load, the term "suspended load" refers to the finer sediment particles that are carried in suspension within the water column and do not directly contact the riverbed. The suspended load can be transported over much longer distances than the bed load and can contribute to the deposition of sediment in downstream areas or in lakes and oceans.
